Best Camp Badges for Wildheart Nature School

Welcome to Summer Camp!

Plants are growing strong and providing us with food and shade. Animals are prowling dusk and dawn. The waters beckon us to jump in head first and find relief from the sun’s heat. Everything in our body seems to be telling us, “Get outside!” Our camps give kids an opportunity to do just that…and so much more! We cover everything from primitive skills to nature art in a multitude of theme-based camps. Leave the homework at the house, these camps are for pure fun, games, and crafts. Thank you for voting us “Best Summer Camp” in the Bend Nest Parenting magazine two years in a row! Children will be having such a great time that they may not even realize how much they are learning, which is just fine for a summer immersion at Wildheart Nature School!

2025 Information

Skyliner Lodge Information

*The HDESD was about to end its lease on Skyliner Lodge, but thanks to Nature Connect, the lodge will remain open. Reservations are being rescheduled in February, and we’re 95% confident all dates will be honored, with final confirmation coming then. Some camps may be held at Tumalo State Park/Powell Plains Adventure Camp or Skyliner Lodge, so please be prepared for drop-offs at either location, though Skyliner is most likely.

Wildheart Van Adventure Camps

Wildheart Van Adventure Camps will meet east of town at Powell Plains. We choose locations with river or lake access and will send parents a list of destinations at the beginning of each week.

Smoke Contingency Plans

In the event of smoke in the area exceeding around 150 on the air quality index, our backup location will be the High Desert Museum. Wildheart Nature School will cover admission on the first day, and any additional days that week will be $8 per child, paid by parents. We’ll monitor air quality using government and handheld readers, and if conditions are unclear, we’ll drive to locations to make the call.
